FILM FOOD IN LIVADA, a new TIFF.25 experience
As part of its 25th edition, Transilvania IFF introduces Film Food in Livada, a special event that brings together gastronomy and cinema in a relaxed outdoor setting, perfect for an evening with friends or family. On Monday, June 15, 2026, starting at 5:00 PM, the USAMV Cluj-Napoca Horticultural Research Station — also known as the Palocsay Orchard — will host a unique experience featuring a local producers’ market, a dinner prepared by Chef Adi Hădean, and an open-air screening of the beloved French comedy The Wing or the Thigh? (L’Aile ou la cuisse, dir. Claude Zidi, 1976), starring Louis de Funès.
Tickets for Film Food in Livada are now available online and include access to the event, a meal prepared by Chef Adi Hădean and the Transylvanian Gastronomic Club team, as well as the film screening. Ticket price: 130 RON
The evening will begin with a market showcasing local producers, where visitors will be able to discover and purchase authentic regional products directly from the source. The spirit of slow food will continue in a conversation with Chef Adi Hădean and his guests, exploring the question: what does local flavor mean today?
Dinner will follow, prepared by Chef Adi Hădean and the Transylvanian Gastronomic Club team for all participants: a timeless French classic — Steak frites with Café de Paris sauce.
The evening will conclude with a screening of The Wing or the Thigh? (L’Aile ou la cuisse, dir. Claude Zidi, France, 1976), a classic comedy long considered part of the pantheon of French cinema. Starring Louis de Funès, Coluche, and Julien Guiomar, the film also features a score by Vladimir Cosma, the Bucharest-born composer whose remarkable career flourished in Paris. Louis de Funès plays Charles Duchemin, the editor of a world-renowned gastronomic guide who secretly visits French restaurants incognito. A passionate defender of traditional cuisine, Duchemin must face his greatest adversary yet: Jacques Tricatel, a champion of industrialized food production and fast food culture. Alongside this culinary battle, Duchemin is also dealing with two personal crises — his son dreams of becoming a clown rather than a restaurant critic, and the famous gastronome himself has lost his sense of taste. Beyond its delightful comic situations and guaranteed laughs, the film remains a surprisingly timely reflection on the modernization of the food industry and its impact on health, nearly fifty years after its release.
